Privacy Policy

What is rAssist?

rAssist is a driver-side automation tool that automatically detects fare information from ride requests and accepts rides that meet your minimum fare setting. It works entirely on your device — no ride data leaves your phone except as anonymised logs used to confirm the service is functioning.

Information We Collect

• Phone number — used as your account identifier. Never shared publicly.
• Driver name — the name you provide at signup, shown in admin tools only.
• PIN (hashed) — your 4-digit PIN is hashed with bcrypt before storage. We cannot read or recover your PIN.
• Device ID — a randomly generated identifier tied to your device, used to detect unauthorised account sharing. Not linked to your IMEI or SIM.
• Ride activity logs — fare amount, accept/skip decision, and timestamp for each detected ride popup. Used to verify the service is working and to display your ride history. Does not include passenger details, route, or destination.
• Payment references — the UPI transaction reference or screenshot you provide when subscribing. Stored until the payment is reviewed, then archived.
• Support messages — messages you send through the in-app support chat. Stored to allow us to respond.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Your location or GPS coordinates
• Passenger names, destination addresses, or trip details
• Contact list, call logs, or SMS content
• Photos, camera, or microphone data
• Any data from apps other than ride-hailing driver apps (Rapido, Ola, etc.)

How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate your account and prevent unauthorised access
• To deliver the auto-accept service (verifying subscription status and fare rules)
• To process subscription payments and activate your access
• To respond to support requests
• To send important service notifications (subscription expiry, updates)

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Google Firebase Firestore) with access restricted to the rAssist service backend. PINs are never stored in plaintext — only bcrypt hashes. All communication between the app and server uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.

We do not store payment card numbers or UPI PINs. We only receive the transaction reference number that you copy from your UPI app after completing a payment.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. The only external services involved are:

• Google Firebase — database and cloud infrastructure
• Web Push (VAPID) — browser push notifications for the admin dashboard (not used for driver app users)

Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Ride logs are retained for up to 90 days. Support messages are retained until resolved and for 30 days after closure.

Rejected or expired payment records are archived (not deleted) for accounting purposes.

Your Rights & Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by messaging @rAssistApp_bot on Telegram with your registered phone number. We will process the request within 7 days.

You may also request a copy of the data stored for your account via the same channel.

Accessibility Service Permission

rAssist uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect fare information from supported ride-hailing driver apps. This is the core mechanism that allows automatic fare detection.

We only access fare-related content from supported driver apps (Rapido, Ola). We do not read content from other apps, your messages, browser activity, or anything outside the specified driver apps.

Children's Privacy

rAssist is intended for adult ride-hailing drivers. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Significant changes will be communicated via the Telegram bot. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
